Our laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying Salmonella survival and virulence, with a focus on stress response elements and host-pathogen interactions.

We are particularly interested in how bacterial transcriptional factors, such as toxin-antitoxin systems, associate with and dissociate from DNA, before and during stress sensing by the bacterium. These transcriptional dynamics are critical for regulating genes essential to Salmonella survival.

Additionally, we aim to elucidate the molecular basis of pathogenesis-promoting interactions between Salmonella virulence proteins and host targets.

By integrating microbiology, protein biochemistry, and structural biology techniques, we seek to uncover the protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions that drive these processes.
